This is me tonight. I just put the last load in and I have been doing laundry ALL day.For the life of me I do not know how two people can create so much laundry.For starters Steve never uses a towel twice and has a "thing" for fresh sheets (he thinks we shed skin while we sleep, I think he watches too much Dateline)But even with all that how can I possibly have 12 loads of wash?
My friend Nancy loves laundry and I have always admired that about her, but I certainly cant wrap my head around it. And now to make matters worse I have returned to ironing! Our new uniforms are much cuter but they need to ironed. I thought irons were a little archaic? I am more the "throw them in the dryer with a bounce sheet to get the wrinkles out" kind of girl. I remember when we were little my mom had a ironing lady who came in once a week and helped her iron all our clothes. Her name was Adeline and she lived down the street in the most perfectly manicured house. She wore hose and a dress every single day.She also would do our "mending" (I once threw away a perfectly good pair of pants because I didn't want to sew on the button) Funny the memories that come back when you have been on your feet all day with an Oreck and Spray Starch in your hands. I do love the way clothes look when they are pressed. I have always appreciated getting them back that way on hangers from the dry cleaners. Lets see at 1.99 each x 12 loads = oh never mind. It might be cheaper to hire an Adeline.But something tells me ladies like her are a thing of the past too. Like Mrs Trimble who used to babysit little Ricky for the Ricardo's and Alice who helped out Mrs Brady. Maybe I can learn to love ironing?

Just this week I had the same exact thought: how can 2 people produce so many piles of laundry?? My husband usually wears 2-3 outfits a day which causes most of the buildup. I have given up on trying to convince him that certain things don't have to be washed every day! It's like living with a teenaged girl :)
You know, when I moved into this place 2 years ago, starting out fresh, I bought an iron and a dinky little ironing board. I have NEVER used it. You reminded me that my mom's neighbor irons her sheets. That is one that I will never be able to wrap my head around. So much of my laundry has to be hung up to dry that I have had the same box of Bounce for those same 2 years. Well, since I work in my PJ's, being wrinkled is a normal state of affairs for me. Gotta go...Teddy Bear wants to flat iron my hair.
I'm guessing I'm your friend, Nancy, who loves to do laundry, if not, then you have two friends named Nancy, who love to do laundry. I'm having a hard time relating to your post because, as mentioned, I really do love washing and ironing. The truth is...I just really love clothes and I like for them to look good and clean and crisp. I don't like bad smells of any kind and especially on clothes or towels or sheets, etc. So consequently this requires doing the laundry daily and it's a BIG job. I agree that I don't know how just TWO people can create so much stuff to keep clean, not to mention the house...I swear we are the messiest people! OK, 12 loads IS really a lot and you definitely got my attention but mostly I love the picture and I love the thought of you lying on top of your dryer...so cute!
Yes Nancy of course you are the one I am referring to. I have always remembered that about you.I do love Gain, bounce, and now the new Purex three in one cleaners. They smell amazing!I always think if I have all the new fun stuff maybe I wont hate the chore so much. Kathy that is so funny...You are not ironing any clothes but you are ironing your hair. So funny... as I am doing the same thing. My kids clean their rooms by shoving everything under their beds. Then I go 4 times a week and stupidly gather all the clothes up and LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL. By the way... I loathe ironing as well. I have never understood why people waste their time. The second you sit down in the car you are all wrinkled. Life is WAY too short. Ya know??
I could barely get through my bedroom door yesterday....three huge laundry baskets, beckoning to be put away, were standing gaurd. I have to figure the whole thing out! I fold and separate originally. Then into the baskets. Then along come the boys to dig for that one shirt at the bottom...then I re- fold and separate....UGH!! My mom use to put her clothes that needed ironing in the dryer for only 10 minutes, then hung them to finish drying. That way there was no need for ironing! Maybe give it a try with your cute new uniforms? (She always said to be careful the washer isn't too full, the clothes need room to tumble...also helps with the ironing issue!) :>)
